Why I Do What I Do
Why I Do What I Do
Back in 2023, I got laid off and for the first time, I found myself without a job and unplanned. This turn of events presented me with some heavy questions, namely -
'who am I?' and 'What is my identity beyond the job, role title, and company I work for?'
As I pondered on these, I realized that each of us has an identity that is unique and independent of any labels/associations — our Personal Brand.
But we often forget or ignore this aspect of ours in the pursuit of our goals, career aspirations, and competitive work cultures. Your personal brand is not only about how you view yourself but also of how others view you. It is your 'reputation'. It's important you take control of this narrative, if not, others will do it for you.
As a marketing and branding guy - this is what I've been doing for the past decade - helping companies with their marketing and branding. Now, I want to do the same for you.
I want to help you create your most Authentic Personal Brand.
Who is Nidhin George?
I am an author, poet, and content marketing professional who's passionate about branding and story-telling, with 12+ years of experience across domains.
Over the past 6 years, I've worked in the MarTech domain helping brands like MoEngage, and Insider optimize their content marketing efforts and improve brand visibility and strategic positioning through customer advocacy and P2P reviews.
Core marketing aside, I'm always exploring new and emerging channels that brands and individuals can leverage to promote their presence and establish thought leadership.
in March 2023, I published my first book — a collection of poems, which led to hosting a podcast.
Being a curious soul and a nature lover, I enjoy traveling and devote time and effort to maintaining a lush balcony garden in my apartment.
I was born in the beautiful, tropical state of Kerala in south India. The first grandchild in a typical, middle-class Malabar Christian home. First son to my parents and elder brother to my charming sister.
Like most families of the time, I grew up in the Middle East, and had a fairly uneventful childhood—partly owing to my reserved nature and partly thanks to my parents who were both teachers. So good behavior was not an option, it was the norm.
Sometime in my early teens, a decision was made that I should continue the rest of my education at a boarding school in Kerala. This was a transformative point in my life—helping me become independent, forcing me to break out of the shell I had created for myself, and giving me an appreciation for life experiences.
Moved to Chennai for college, and post-graduation, Bangalore became my home, in a manner of speaking. Having started my career in Investment Banking, I played around with jobs for a while, understanding my passion, skills, and exploring careers until I found my niche in Marketing and Content. I've been in this domain for the past 8 years.
Having worked with some global firms, dynamic work environments, and leaders, I've made some interesting observations about how we operate. Most often, we are worth so much more than we give ourselves credit for, and are capable of more than what we 'think' we can.
I have observed people conquer limiting beliefs and achieve the stuff of dreams; I have also seen peers validate their limiting beliefs and stay in a perpetual cycle of wanting more, but feeling helpless. This led me on a quest to find out if there was a secret to unlocking greatness. Was there a formula which, if applied could help a person be more than just a result of circumstances and experiences?
Are we hopelessly prisoners of our circumstances, and are we merely the result of our experiences? Is there nothing else that can shape us, or, in other words—is there something we can do, to shape our story the way we want to?
I believed there was... There has to be...
And my life has never been the same since this realization clicked in my mind.
Now, I want to give you this treasure. I want you too to experience freedom from the limitations of mind-imposed beliefs, and discover that all limits are merely milestones to be crossed. I want you to know what it feels like to live a life, full of possibilities. To live Life in there Here and Now.
For Crying Out Rhymes - confessions untold
Nidhin George, who goes by the pen-name @geo_rhymes was born in March 1991, in the beautiful south-Indian state of Kerala. The elder son to Mr. George T Jacob and Mrs. Premsy George; and brother to Nissy George who is a literature grad herself.
Nidhin discovered his love for poetry at an early age, when he realized his prowess over the pen and paper was greater than his athletic abilities on the basketball court. And thus began a journey of rhymes - initially an outlet for random musings and then a channel of expression.
Fascinated by the romantic poets of old — Shelly, Keats, Coleridge and the likes — Nidhin saw divine essence in rhymes and realized that a rhyme scheme nurtures the bosom of the experience conveyed in the poem.
His maiden book - For Crying Out Rhymes - confessions untold is a collection of poems created over the span of a decade. Unplanned and deriving its essence straight from the eye of his experiences, these poems finally have a physical form - a paperback book available on Amazon and Flipkart.
“Self-containment is an effort at realizing an order of thought that is beyond this world while being plagued by the atrocities of this very world. It is indeed a question of one’s very existence.“
Your next door poet, writer, gardener, dreamer and artist who deeply enjoys getting lost in a book, or in his own thoughts. The only other place he enjoys getting lost is in nature. Nidhin is a nature poet and a story teller who calls upon trusted analogies and a rhyme scheme, last echoed by the Romantics of Old, to breathe color and life into his experiences.
